Professional Summary

My acrylic paintings depict the ravaged landscape of “ghost forests.” These once-verdant topographies, a consequence of climate change, are remnants of wooded areas destroyed by groundwater salination, pesticides, herbicides, drought, pests, and storms. Themes include memory, loss, change and the tragic beauty of decay.

I work with diluted, flat, house paint on synthetic silk. My role includes being a facilitator, encouraging – and discouraging – migration and co-mingling of pigment.

As beautiful as they are disturbing, these denuded forms, in tortured and often luminous settings, reflect the tragic irony – and real-world truth – of what ghost forests mean: as a consequence of contemporary life, they illustrate the cost of systems that enable modern living yet are poisoning the literal and figurative well.
